Volunteer Literacy Tutoring Program

Our literacy program will provide tutoring at no cost to adult education students who need additional help with basic instruction in reading, writing and math. Tutoring can take place either individually or in a classroom setting. Literacy tutoring is offered at multiple EASTCONN sites. Volunteers interested in tutoring are encouraged to apply.

If the buildings are temporarily closed to the public due to external circumstances, then the Volunteer Literacy Tutoring Program has the capacity to transition to a remote delivery model. Technical support will be provided as available.

Benefits: This volunteer program is one in which the student, teacher and volunteer all benefit. The student receives one-to-one instruction, the teacher is better able to meet the needs of the student and the volunteer is able to contribute in a meaningful way to his/her community. Each volunteer is matched to a student/program by examining the needs of the student, the location and time of classes and the volunteer's interest.
