Transitions for 21st Century Careers: Workforce Readiness

This multi-faceted program provides support and guidance for current adult education students as well as adult education graduates in both individual and group settings. These services include: embedded classroom support for career pathway development within the GED, CDP and ESL programs; program-wide transitions events; visits to local post-secondary programs with appropriate referrals and counseling; guest speakers; and contextualized academic instruction in manufacturing and health care content areas. Transition Coaches engage students early and support them throughout the process of exploring, identifying and transitioning to appropriate post-secondary experiences whether employment, training, military, entrepreneurship or college enrollment.

If the buildings are temporarily closed to the public due to external circumstances, then this program has the capacity to transition to a remote delivery model. Technical support will be provided as available.

Benefits: Upon completion, students will have been introduced to and explored a wide range of careers within the manufacturing and health care industries in order to develop their own individualized career pathway. Students will develop a career plan and a portfolio that will help them to transition into work and/or post-secondary education.
